Ann-Charlotte Söderlund Björk

Ann-Charlotte Söderlund advises and represents both national and multinational companies in all areas of IPR (both contentious and non-contentious) in particular with the focus on the enforcement and litigation of IPR rights where Ann-Charlotte now since many years has an established reputation and renown. Ann-Charlotte is also known for handling issues related to marketing practices where she not only litigates such cases but also advises on marketing campaigns and other marketing activities.
Ann-Charlotte’s clients are from a wide range of business such as for example vehicle industry, clothing industry, telecom, furniture industry, pharmaceutical industry, entertainment industry and sporting industries and which are owners of world famous brands and other famous IP rights. Ann-Charlotte has thereto been responsible for the handling, enforcement and safeguarding of a major Swedish clothing company’s trademarks world-wide for almost 20 years where she was responsible for that company’s enforcements strategies and in the pro-active work for the prevention of infringements and counterfeit products. Björn Skarp is a legal counsel for RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB (Grants Office), where he advises mainly in legal issues concerning publicly funded R&D and innovation. RISE is Sweden’s research and technology institute and innovation partner, owned by the Swedish state and organized as a group of companies. Björn has nearly 20 years’ experience of working with legal and contractual issues relating to R&D activities carried out at the juncture between industry, academia and the public sector.
Björn’s areas of expertise include the state aid law regime, commercial contracts and general civil law, intellectual property rights, public law and legal issues related to R&D and innovation. Besides these more specific areas, he has a general interest in the legal system, being author of a textbook in law in use at law programmes at Swedish universities. Björn is a former state aid law specialist at the Swedish National Agency for Public Procurement, a legal counsel and funding call manager at Vinnova (Sweden’s main public innovation funding agency), and a commercial counsel for a large university and a regional hospital. Furthermore he draws from past experience as a junior judge. Björn received his law degree from the University of Göteborg, Sweden. He studied French law at Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens, France), and has studied theory of science, philosophy and clinical research/clinical trials.
Bowman Heiden

Dr. Heiden is currently the Co-Director of the Center for Intellectual Property (CIP), which is a joint center for knowledge-based business development between University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and the Norwegian University for Science and Technology. He is also a Visiting Professor at UC-Berkeley, a Visiting Scholar at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, and a member of the European Commission High-Level Expert Group on Standard Essential Patents. In addition, he developed the Impact Accelerator at the Sahlgrenska School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship where he is also the Program Director of the interdisciplinary master’s program.
Previously he was Innovation Director for the Qatar Science & Technology Park, where he was responsible for driving innovation strategy and intellectual property policy. Over the past ten years, Dr. Heiden has managed over 100 innovation projects with industry, university research institutes, healthcare providers, and start-up ventures.
As Co-Director of CIP, Dr. Heiden currently manages the internationalization of the CIP platform and strategic collaborations with industry and university partners. In this role, Dr. Heiden has co-founded and developed the Intellectual Capital Management (ICM) and Business Creation and Entrepreneurship in Biomedicine (BCEB) master’s level programs, CIP FORUM, the Business of Intellectual Property executive program, and the CIP Internship Program.
Dr. Heiden holds degrees in engineering, technology management, and economics, and his research is at the interdisciplinary interface of economics, law, and innovation, in particular, intellectual property and open innovation in knowledge-intensive sectors. Before turning his focus to the field of knowledge-based business, Dr. Heiden played professional basketball in a number of European countries.

Daniel Westman is an expert in ICT and media law with a have a background as a researcher and teacher at Stockholm University. Now Daniel spends most of his time as an independent advisor, researcher and public speaker. In the last years, he has been working as an expert in many government committees.

Elliot Papageorgiou is Gowling WLG’s Head of IP Strategy in China. With over 25 years of experience, Elliot has practised intellectual property (IP) law across several continents, including Oceania, Europe and Asia. Based in Gowling WLG’s Shanghai office, Elliot counsels international clients on contentious and non-contentious IP matters, with a special focus on IP value-growth and value-extraction, strategic portfolio development, and cross-border IP enforcement and infringement litigation in China and across the APAC region. Elliot supports a number of embassies in China with current IP developments and issues and is regularly consulted by the European Delegation and European Intellectual Property Office in China. He is the former National Chair of the European Chamber in China (EUCCC)’s Intellectual Property Rights Working Group (IPR WG) and has held various positions within the IPR WG since 2006.

Heidi Härkönen (LL.D., trained on the bench) is a legal scholar who is specialised in the IP protection of works of applied art and industrial designs, in particular fashion designs. Her award-winning doctoral research (2021) focused on copyright protection of fashion design from the perspective of sustainable development. Dr. Härkönen is also the founder of the Finnish Fashion Law Association. Prior to law school, she studied fashion design.
Henrik Bengtsson is a specialist in intellectual property law, trade secrets, market law, IT law and personal data issues and disputes in these areas. In addition, Henrik Bengtsson focuses on Internet-related issues, privacy protection and licensing. He has successfully represented clients in over a hundred litigations and arbitrations regarding intellectual property, trade secrets and unfair marketing.
Henrik Bengtsson has published the leading Swedish book on measures in case of intellectual property infringement and has published and lectured extensively on Internet-related topics such as email marketing, digital evidence, liability for intermediaries and data breaches.
Håkan specialises in Intellectual Property litigation and has more than 35 years of experience. He is a Partner and founder of the IP group at Vinge in Stockholm. Håkan also gives advice in relation to IP strategies as well as the establishment of IP rights. Ia Modin specializes in intellectual property and commercial contract law. She focuses on innovation, industrial collaborations, and commercialisation activities. She has significant experience in complex multi-party agreements related to future intellectual property rights, such as R&D contracts for both industry and academia as well as art-, music- and film production agreements. She is an experienced negotiator and clients appreciate her ability to find common ground and creating foundations for long term and trusted collaborations.
Prior to joining private practice, Ia Modin worked at Vinnova – the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems where she headed the Agency’s work to monitor and facilitate contracts related to research, with a focus on contracts for collaborative research in consortia and projects.

Lydia Lundstedt is a senior lecturer in private international law at Stockholm University and in intellectual property law at Linköping University. Her research focuses on the interface between private international law and intellectual property law with comparative and international law perspectives. In 2016, she successfully defended her dissertation Territoriality in Intellectual Property Law: A comparative study of the interpretation and operation of the territoriality principle in the resolution of transborder intellectual property infringement disputes with respect to international civil jurisdiction, applicable law and the territorial scope of application of substantive intellectual property law in the European Union and the United States. Since then, she has written several articles and book chapters for renowned journals such as IIC-International Review of Industrial Property and Copyright Law and GRUR International.
In October 2023, her book Cross Border Trade Secret Disputes in the European Union: Jurisdiction and Applicable Law will be published by Edward Elgar. The book examines how trade secret protection can differ across jurisdictions, where trade secret holders can bring proceedings, and which country’s law is applicable, and provides a prospective view on how this specialized legal area could be improved in the future.
Lydia has an LL.D. and an LL.M. from Stockholms University, a J.D. from the Washington College of Law, American University, and a B.A. from George Washington University. She is a member of the New York and Washington, D.C. bar. In addition, Lydia is the general editor of the book series Scandinavian Studies in Law, which is affiliated with the Faculty of Law at Stockholm University.

Marianne Levin is a professor of civil law with a specialty in intellectual property law. She is the course director for the special course experimental intellectual property law, as well as the master’s programs Master of Comparative and International Law and European Intellectual Property Law.
Marianne Levin is also director of the Institute for Intellectual Property Rights (IFIM).
She has participated in many government investigations in the area and has also led several Swedish and international research projects. In addition to this, she is director of the Institute for Intellectual Property and Market Law (IFIM), chairman of the Swedish Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (SFIR) and sits on the board of Grafikens Hus and The Swedish Author’s Fund. She is also an honorary doctorate at Hanken School of Economics in Finland.
Markus specialises in copyright, media and entertainment law and advises clients in a broad range of commercial and corporate matters. He was recently named one of the “Top 20 under 30” talents by the Nordic music export offices.
Markus frequently advices on and negotiates all types of agreements within the music and entertainment industry. Dr. Matteo Sabattini currently serves as President and Chief Licensing Officer of Convida, a pioneer in research and innovation for IoT and cloud services. Formed in 2012 as a joint venture between Sony Corporation of America and InterDigital, Convida’s patented technology helps lay the groundwork for a future where everything, in every home, business and industry, is connected. Dr. Sabattini in the past held positions at Ericsson, the Sisvel Group, InterDigital and other leading organizations in the IP industry. He also held several teaching and research positions in wireless and mobile communications at UCSD and at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR).
Dr. Sabattini is a though leader in the IP space. He has years of expertise in technology licensing and IP strategy, and his background blends business, policy and technical skills. Dr. Sabattini is a member of the board of the Licensing Executive Society International (LESI). He also currently serves as the senior vice president for standards and is part of the management council of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) USA and Canada. Peter Ericsson Nestler, currently Director IPR Defensive Strategies at Ericsson, started his career working with patents at Ericsson in 1991. In 1994, he had the opportunity to be responsible for IPRs at the business unit for Mobile Phones at Ericsson Mobile Communication, where he became a manager at the patent unit in 1998. In 2001, Ericsson closed down its mobile phone business and Ericsson Mobile Communication was turned in to Ericsson Mobile Platforms, where Peter continued his managerial position and in 2006 he became Patent Unit Manager at the Patent Unit Mobile Platforms. In 2009, Peter took the position as Vice President and Head of Patents at the newly formed joint venture ST-Ericsson.
